The 21st Tactical Air Base (TAB) in Świdwin is the Polish Air Force unit responsible for planning, organizing and carrying out aerial combat tasks. It is the only Polish Air Force unit operating Su-22 fighter-bomber aircraft, which carry out tasks for all types of armed forces as a striking, reconnaissance and armament carrier.
The model of nutrition of flying personnel in the 21st TAB is implemented according to the 040 food standard and its 041 version, which includes low-calorie meals containing elements of a low-cholesterol and low-fat diet. The menu prepared according to the 041 version includes easily digestible and cooked dishes, as the TAB does not have the facilities to prepare meals as part of individual diets recommended by a doctor. Pilots therefore have the option to choose their meals, bearing in mind the energy value of selected dishes, as part of the two versions of the menu - normal and easily digestible. The model of nutrition for flying personnel was assessed on the basis of the legal acts in force in the Armed Forces with regard to nutrition and analysis of planning and implementation of nutrition for flying personnel at the 21st TAB. It was found that the flying personnel of the 21st TAB are fed properly, in accordance with the principles of rational nutrition, and meals are prepared in accordance with the hygienic regulations regarding nutritional blocks. Based on the results obtained, the development of standards for energy and individual nutrients was proposed, this to be based on the recorded energy expenditure of flying personnel involved in the military training process, the nature of the service carried out and the type of military unit, with particular attention paid to the nutrition of military flying personnel with specific dietary indications.
