Life and activities of Wiesław Franciszek Jaszczyński - Honorary President of Polish Hygienic Society

Summary
Wiesław Franciszek Jaszczyński (1930-2017) was doctor of medicine, specialist in epidemiology, general hygiene, maritime and tropical medicine, port doctor, naval physician, pilot, lecturer at the Hygiene Department of the Pomeranian Medical University of Szczecin. Due to his many accomplishments in the field of public health he was twice appointed as the Chief Sanitary Inspector - the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health and Welfare, between 1990-1991 and 1993-1997. He was appreciated for his comprehensive hygienic and social activities as a long-standing Vice-President of the Polish Hygienic Society (PTH), and later was awarded the title of Honorary President of the Polish Hygienic Society. It is important to remember dr Jaszczyński and his numerous achievements, as there are very few doctors so passionate about preventive medicine and committed primarily to this activity throughout their careers.
